OpenSpace previews new field tools; Procore adds annual AI credits

The decision

If your team already uses either platform, these announcements are a reason to review your current setup. Ask the site team where it loses time finding evidence, and ask the budget owner when AI demand will peak. Those are separate decisions with separate tests.

OpenSpace: less searching during a site walk

OpenSpace's 11 September Waypoint recap previews Site Mode, a mobile experience using live location to show where someone is on a drawing, including indoors. It describes access to nearby Field Notes, earlier captures and model context, plus Walk and Talk capture.

The same recap says OpenSpace Track converts 360° and drone imagery into progress data with human verification. Its new API is in beta. The Agent Ecosystem is in early access, with launch planned for early 2027. Site Mode is presented as a preview; do not assume every demonstrated feature is available in your account. For a supervisor, the useful question is whether a location's photos, notes and drawing context are easier to find during a walk. For a planner, it is whether that evidence resolves a progress question before the weekly meeting.

Try it on one workfront

This is our suggested test, not a measured product result. After confirming feature access, choose one workfront and one person to review the records.

• Before the trial, time a normal evidence search: find a location, its latest image and the outstanding issue.
• Repeat the same task using the available workflow. Check that the location, date and drawing revision are correct.
• Over four weekly reviews, record the time spent preparing the progress pack and the items that still need manual checking.
• Continue only if the team can retrieve reliable evidence with less effort. Keep beta exports outside any process the project depends on.

Procore: match AI credits to project demand

Procore's 9 September release note says companies entering new Pro or Enterprise Digital Coworker contracts to add Procore AI can select an annual allocation. That makes the year's credits available at the start of the term instead of through monthly refreshes. The announcement does not establish eligibility for existing contracts or every plan. Before the next contract decision

Ask the person responsible for AI usage to make a simple monthly forecast. List the intended tasks, expected frequency and known peaks such as mobilisation or handover. Use measured consumption where you have it; mark estimates clearly.

Ask Procore to compare annual and monthly options against that same forecast, with written terms for price, expiry, overages and usage controls. Check what happens if the pool runs low before a busy period. Keep the current arrangement unless the comparison supports changing it.

Limits and next action

Both announcements come from the vendors. We have not tested these features on a live project. Neither cited item confirms Australian availability or local hosting and support terms, and the announcements do not establish an integration between the products.

Next action: take one question to your next vendor call: which part of this update is available under our actual account and contract? Get that answer before committing a live workflow or changing the budget.
